Sony AVCHD IMPORT?

Does anyone know how one can import footage from a sony avchd cam with the .MTS extension, edit it in AE or VEGAS, and then export it back to the cam????, I know, great question...

There are different models with different capabilities to be asking generic questions, being model specific would help for people to give a answer
