Using cheap videocam as dubbing deck
by Guy Hutcheson on Sep 19, 2008 at 3:05:21 pm

Someone in this forum said pros often used less expensive decks to dub tapes (obviously to save run time on the good videocam). I am shooting High Def with a Sony HVR-Z1U: would I need an "inexpensive" High Def cam to use as a dubbing deck, or can a regular DV camera dub High Def footage?

Thanks,

Guy

I use a Canon HV20 to capture Sony V1 60i. Would work with the Z1 as well. You can buy a used HV20 for about $600 on Ebay.
