I'm REALLY hoping I am stupidly overlooking something, and this is an easy fix.

I work for a church, and we tape our services using 2 DSR-PD170's. We run with RCA outs to an Edirol V4 then to a Mac Pro.

A couple weeks ago, one camera stopped sending an RCA signal. Tried it with S video and firewire out, both work fine. We started using tape on that camera for the time being.

This week, the OTHER camera has also stopped sending an RCA signal.

I first thought this was going to require repair, but how can both cameras have the same problem at the same time?

There is a Spanish church that also uses our building, as well as our cameras, and they are not very tech savvy, so I'm wondering if they accidentally changed a setting on the cameras, but I've never had to select an option for the RCA outs.

Can anyone help me with this? I'm leaving for Italy for 2 weeks, and would definitely like to resolve the problem before I leave so I don't leave the church with a pain to take care of.

Thanks!

-Chris

The RCA and S-Video jacks both work all the time.

I'd check the edirol's presets.

Also, connect the PD's directly to a video monitor via RCA to see if it's something ELSE (like the switcher or the cables) that's the problem.

A quick-and-dirty workaround (if the PD's RCA jacks ARE dead) is to buy S-Video male-to-RCA adapters.
That would feed S-Video outs down standard composite RCA cables.

(If you combine the Y and C signals [the adapter does that internally,] the S-video output simply becomes standard composite, like the RCA jack's feed.)

Thanks, I appreciate the help.

I have tried the cameras out directly to our monitors with the RCA. Still dead. I have also tried a Canon out with the switcher using the Canon's RCA's and it works fine. It's definitely the cameras.

I might do the S-video with RCA adapters thing for a bit until I get back from vacation and I can send these in to get worked on.
