 | Sony PD-150 Redish Picture
by RBSservices on Aug 29, 2007 at 2:49:25 pm |
I own a Sony PD-150 that when I white balance in either automatic or manual mode the skin tones are redish. I have gone into the menu on the handle and tried changing the hue and I still have Redish faces. The whites and blacks are fine. Am I missing something.

Improper lighting?
Too much chroma level on your monitor?
How are you monitoring and how is the scene lit?

It's the camera. I own a sony dsr -300 and have no problem with that camera. Does not make a difference what monitor you play it back on. You can lower the chroma and still have red faces. When I bring it in to edit in the computer I have to go into color corection and play with the hue to get the red out. I don't want to do this. It should look like my other cameras.

[RBSservices] "It's the camera."
I have a PD-150 and I also shoot with the 150's from other local camera ops. and we don't have footage with particularly red flesh-tones.

Have you tried the "reset" button? It is located on the menu panel behind the lcd screen, in the lower right hand corner. Press the button with a pin or ball point pen to reset to factory defaults. You will lose your personal settings, but it will hopefully cure your problem. If not, look up the thread below about the repair facility in Los Angeles and give them a call. Ask for Chris Catrell and mention my name and the Cow, and hopefully he can hook you up with one of their techs who may be familiar with your problem.
