Service is usually a post purchase item, what you are looking for is pre-purchase information, to most salesmen in these type stores time is money, also their on-line pricing is usually different than in store over the counter purchasing, as most of their stock information/pricing is on-line they expect their non store customers to avail themselves of the system, a shopping list of high ticket items will usually get a responce, but don't expect too much from a long list of inexpensive items unless you are a long time customer
This is prevelent with most on-line stores of this type.

Understood. It still seemed weird to not even give me a price quote on thousands of dollars worth of stuff. In my opinion, with the dv revolution, there are a lot of buyers that need a little help and do have credit card in hand.

If you're interested in getting a quote, just shoot them an email with the exact products that you're interested in purchasing and when time allows, they'll reply with an accurate quote. The trouble with this method is two-fold in the fact that they NEVER slow down to offer any "product review" and a quote is typically noted as valid for only 72 hours from the time quoted, if not shorter.

As a rule, many if not most internet operations where actual sales is the key to their survival will not spend/invest/waste time with someone who has not given a means to buy as a precursor to a purchase. Certainly there are exceptions, but generally the internet provides all the reseach that one can get on almost any product in the B&H catalog.

Not trying to beat a dead horse here. I did send them an email with an attached excel file of all the items I needed a quote on. All of them were specific items with model numbers except I wasn't sure which model chimera I needed for a particular lamp which I specified in the list. They responded with a quote on about 1/4 of the items. A follow-up email yielded no response. A follow-up phone call yielded all the prices I needed except the chimera, which they couldn

I have had the exact same experience as you even in person at their store when I have visited NYC.
So what I always do: is my research everywhere else and then when ready to purchase I call them - they are best at TAKING orders.
