Settings for good audio?

I've been having a difficult time with setting audio for on a VX-2100 w/ a sennheiser wireless lav. mic set. I've examined the sen. audio manual and adjust the camera audio settings [manual]. After I mic my subject for interviews, I'm getting a peak sound in my headphones. In post production it is noticable. Again adjusting the cameras audio, hasn't solved the issue. Can anyone guide me in the right direct with this.
