Monitors w/Focus in Red

Both peaking and direct light on the subject affect the Focus in Red, sometimes to the point on making an out of focus object seem in focus.Beyond minimizing the red lines themselves,what can I adjust on the monitor so I am certain of what is in focus and what is out of focus? thanks, Michele
