I have been following your DIY8 hot rod recommendations.

I use Sony Vegas Pro 11.

Two questions
1. Can you recommend a server based hot rod? I have several of us who collaborate on a server.

2. I see that Asus has a multiGPU model that is server based. Would the editing performance benefit from multiple GPUs?

There is no advantage whatsoever to multiple GPUs.

Vegas does not run as a server application. it must run locally on each machine.

You can set up shared storage so that everyone can have their media on the same drives and share them. This can get quite costly - in teh $15-25K range.
