Now this is really driving me crazy!! i have a dedicated drive for all my video work and i created an event and project in final cut x hoping that all clips sound files, render files etc are going to be saved on this drive as i edit my movie, but noooooo!!! this final cut is still saving all my media on my system drive why? and how can i move the whole project including media to another drive ?? i have used final cut pro studio for years and i never had such issues but this final cut is pushing me to the edge now im about to switch to something else !!!!!i cant seem to finish work on time because files are lost or misplaced!!

Where is your event and project stored? If it's not on your external drive then you must have created them on a different drive.
You can easily move projects and events to different drives, either at the finder level or through FCPX using the File>Move Event command and dragging your projects in the project library to a different drive

Over at macbreak, they just did a video (I watched it on fcp.co) about ths very thing! Only move them inside of FCP X. Moving at he finder level messes with file ID's. Drag the project and or event to the new (mounted) drive and it will make a duplicate on the new drive. You can then delete the old project, from inside FCP. Posted from iPad, please excuse typos!
