Brand new to FCPX, but a veteran to the original, and fresh off a 40 video series from Steve Martin of Ripple Training, so I feel pretty comfortable. However, can't seem to figure this one out.

I start out a storyline with 5 songs of audio. Then I slice sections and remove the middles. Next step is to fine tune trim the edit points, however, when I add head frames back to the A side of the edit, those frames are muted and the waveform for those frames is closed in with a blue rectangular box. Likewise, when I trim out the tail frames of the A side, the clip moves, but I can still sort of see the waveform beneath the B side, as though it is behind it. The result is that the audio from A and B are still overlapping and playing together, even though I trimmed them out. What's going on here?

Thanks,

Ben

I'm not seeing your pic. Not sure if you linked it wrong, or a problem with my browser. Can you check?

Hmm. I tried to follow the embedded image tutorial on CC correctly. Let me try again.

Ah, there it is.

So, I can't seem to get this to happen again. I started with a fresh storyline, and tried to do the same steps, but I never again saw this blue are of muted music. Everything worked fine. But should I stumble across this again, I'd sure like to know what it is.

I've run into this exact same problem. The only way I've been able to get around it is to delete the music and relay it from the event browser. It's gotta be a bug right?

Well, it would be just like me to run into a bug on a maiden voyage for software, one that makes me feel like I don't know what I'm doing. :)
