Flash communicating to Director

I have a Flash SWF with buttons embedded in a Director 11.5 file. What would the Actionscript of the button in the SWF be to tell Director to open a PDF file. I know how to get Director to open a PDF file, I just don't know how to have the button in the SWF tell Director to execute that function. By the way, I'm still using Actionscript 2.0.
