Hey, am I reading this right? I can download all the CS6 applications for $49.99 a month. (Total of $600 for one year)?

What happens to my licenses if I cancel after the first year?

I would assume that the second you cancel your license terminates. That is what would be logical under the conditions.

That's my guess too, Ronald. Just like any other subscription, lease, rent, whatever: stop paying, and your access to it ends.

I think the object of the game, though, is to make it so that you'll be ready to subscribe to the next version of the Creative Suite, rather than have you stop cold when you feel like you've "paid enough" for the current version.

I know that Adobe is interested in evening out their revenue streams so that they don't go quiet for long stretches, followed by record quarters every 18 months. I'm quite certain that they're interested in making this as smooth as possible for you.

Actually, the forum where this is most being talked about is the FCPX or Not: The Debate. Despite the name, it has become the forum where people talk about general issues, rather than application-specific problems.

There are a bunch of threads coming at this from various angles, but one thing I noted: if you're a current Adobe customer, going back to CS3, you can get the subscription for $29!!! The price is good for as long as you don't cancel.

I'll be honest, I hadn't really been paying attention to this before now, but at $29/mo. I think I'm in. Seems like I'll be losing money if I DON'T do this! :-)

Thanks Tim, I'll check out the other forum. Keep in mind that $29.99 is only for the first year. It goes back up to $49.99 after that. :-)

I got that info from Adobe's Dennis Radeke...who admits that he might be wrong...but I got the info from Adobe's Dennis Radeke. :-)

$29 is an introductory offer to existing users as an incentive to go with a subscription. My understanding (again possibly flawed) is that the $29 is ongoing until you decide to turn it off. At that point, whatever the going rate is ($49, $69 whatever depending on what you have) would be what you get going forward from there. In other words, we're trying to give everyone a very sweetheart deal but once you do, I think you want to stay with it otherwise the price will go up.

It's a neat idea. I just have to do the calculations to see if it's beneficial for me. I typically skip a major update, and leapfrog to the next. (of course there's usually a little higher upgrade cost) If I can get every update for the same or less than I'm spending now, that would be great.

Kinda worrisome though, the fact that if I never give Adobe any more money, I still have use of CS4.

I'll be interested to see how many people go for the new scheme.
