In a final death blow, Apple has removed the link to the Pro Apps updater. Excellent news for those who recently purchased Studio 3.

The link here redirects to the Final Cut Pro X page. http://support.apple.com/kb/DL949

I've just read that while FCP 7 runs under Lion, the installer is PPC and won't run in Lion.

While marketing rhetoric from Apple is puzzling, removing support for a product sold as recently as last week is unconscionable.

Like many of you my reaction is WTF!

Merchant Bankers springs to mind.

They've done this all very badly.

[Brian Charles] "Like many of you my reaction is WTF!"

Like one of the recent posters here was told by a CSR from Apple, go elsewhere for your professional needs...

There is absolutely no other explanation for this roll out. And quite honestly, with everything that's happened over the last 2 days...can you ever trust this company again?

Does this mean it would be possible to install FCS 3 under Snow Leopard, and then update your computer to Lion, and still have FCS 3 work under the Lion OS?

That is my understanding.

Does that mean that the FSC3 I just bought to be shipped on Monday won't be able to be updated to the latest version???!!!???

I have no idea whether Software Update will continue to work for FCP 7, only that that updater link from the FCP support site is gone.

I suggest you ask Apple, presuming that anyone there is listening to customers.

This is disastrous!

Let's say you have a problem and do a clean re-install. If there is no access to an updater then you are S.O.L.

Damn, I have to going looking for updaters now!!

This just keeps getting better!

I just updated a new install of FCS3 last night, so hopefully that means that the auto-update still works... (crosses fingers...)

Not cool. Anyone have the updater downloaded that they can share with me?

I think I have a line on it. Making some calls. If I find it I'll let you know - serves me right for using the software updater!

Apple, talk about creating incredible ill will!!!

It works now but they had taken it down a couple of days after FCP X was released and when you clicked on the download button, it took you to FCP X page. After all the complaints, and I'm sure several people calling Apple support and even writing to Randy Ubilios on Facebook (well, that's what I did anyway), they put it back up.

I'd grab it now just to be safe!

[Brian Charles] " while FCP 7 runs under Lion, the installer is PPC and won't run in Lion."

huh?!?

I saw someone else state that as well.

makes no sense, fcp 7 only works on intel hardware, ppc no supported.

Just tested with a new install. The Pro Apps Updater is still available from Software Updater.
