 | Seasons greetings
by Steve Connor on Dec 23, 2012 at 11:07:31 am |
Seasons greetings to everyone, can I take this opportunity to wish everyone a great holiday season and many thanks for all the fascinating, funny, infuriating and at times simply brilliant discussions this year.
Let's hope for more of the same in 2013

[Charlie Austin] "Happy Politically Correct Non-Denominational Holiday Greetings to all!"
That's funny. I've been saying "Happy Holidays" most of my life, and only in the last five or so years has it become "politically correct" to do so. I guess if you live in a space where 99.9% of your fellow humans celebrate Christmas, it must seem a bit forced and some sort of nod to some sort of socialist overlord nanny state to feel obliged to say "happy holidays," but if you've grown up in a world of intersecting cultures that all celebrate something slightly different having to do with the Winter solstice, it just seems polite to go with "Happy Holidays."
But now, I feel a tad shamed and so do throw off these chains of political correctness: A good and happy Merlinpeen to you. sir. May your month of Verdukian pleasures truly soar.

I ate the real thing for Christmas! Between my wife (1/4 Mexican) and her aunt (1/2 Mexican), I'm in Mexican food heaven :)

Ours too. The Doctor did, after all, save us once again from dire circumstances this past Friday.

I used to work on that, many years ago when Pat Trougton,Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker were Doctors. Happy days. Once we found a Dalek parked in the scenery runway and rode around in it. Left one of our colleagues inside for while, as you can't get out without help.

That's why I wished it to you. When I was a boy Tom Baker was THE Doctor, though that may have been somewhat delayed here in the states. My daughter is a fanatic about the current batch. Have to say that I am too. And the new companion-hubba, hubba.

We still watch. I saw the first in November 1963, I started working on the odd one in 1966, and I'd still enjoying it now. I'm not a Dr Who anorak - you can't be if you've seen short-sighted Katy Manning missing her marks again - but have always thought it was fun.

Likewise to all my COW friends. Been on location forever and can't wait to get back to the comfort of my studio this winter and catch up on all the big brain developments.

I'm having a heck of a time trying to reboot the XMas tree.
The ornaments keep crashing.
I can't figure out how to tie ribbons around downloadable apps.
The chestnuts are taking too long to render.
The popcorn keeps giving me kernel panics
That does it! I'm going to turn on a Quad Core Power Mac and wait 'till that gets nice and toasty and make Potato Latkes on top of it. That should cook real fast.
Happy Holidays!
