I managed to pre-empt the launch of 10.03 by a day, let's see if I can do the same for new Mac Pros :)

Hi
Others are speculating the same thing, though on a longer timescale:
Intel's Sandy Bridge-EP review units have been shipped to reviewers, so we should expect the launch to happen fairly soon (CeBIT at the latest - 6th March).

Hi
For HP an announcement may be 'next week':

I also have to be wrong and say "no way, not till March at the earliest" like I did about 10.0.3.

Best,
Andy

Anything that will help. Thanks for the sacrifice.

As Macrumors points out in their buyers guide it's 560 days since the last MacPro update which was in July 2010. ( the average is 340 days between updates )

Let's hope "last MacPro update" doesn't turn out to be true. I heard rumor of a MacPro "S".

I keep checking every Tuesday... gotta happen right? Though I would be happy with a new 6 core i7 EE machine that was a tad smaller and lighter than current tower as long as it has Thunderbolt and a couple of open pcie slots. As long as we have fast GPU's we really don't need 12 core machines anymore?

Those fast GPUs remain dormant when it comes time to render out.

It depends. Depending on what you're doing for the "Share", it can be GPU accelerated even when the timeline isn't rendered.

Fine.

Then give me something I can put a upgraded GPU in?

Go for it. If you can make that happen, I'd be grateful. Those Z800 are starting to look mighty tasty.

Until the next generation of processors from Intel is available, no new Mac Pros. Until then, its kinda pointless except for the addition of Thunderbolt.

According to this, should be around April.

Undoubtedly that's true, but Steve had such mojo last time. Have you loaded MC 6.01 yet? I'm wondering if it fixes the underrun bug.

I've installed it and am using it now.
I never experienced the under run bug with 6.0, so I can't say if its fixed. It says it is in the release notes.
