Hi

I would like to know if I need the same software that someone use to archieve info inside the LTO to retieve the data.

More details: I am looking at Cache-A, Tolis + HP; Should the user buy the same software that I use to archieve to retrieve the info?

Most likely you will need the same software, unless the LTOs were written with standard TAR (Cache-A does this by default) or the new LTFS (which, as far as I know, has been added as an option by both Tolis and Cache-A for LTO-5 setups). Almost anything else will require the same software that wrote the tape to read the tape. Check with individual vendors to know for sure.
