 | Playback monitor ideas?
by Jesuit Lewis on Feb 22, 2012 at 6:44:21 am |
Building my edit system on a budget, so I'm looking for a decent playback monitor for editing in the form of a 1080p LCD/LED type of television set somewhere between 20" and 26" -- I realize theres certain sacrifices that come with that choice but I honestly can't afford a $3000+ broadcast monitor right now.
Will probably hook it into my system using something like the new Blackmagic Intensity Extreme
Any advice or recommendations on televisions that would fit the bill? Or something I might be overlooking in the way I'm setting up my system? Thanks ahead of time!

I usually prefer plasma to those other choices, simply for the better color representation. So I wouldn't rule that out. You can get a decent plasma for well under $3000 (That is the only prereq you set as far as price) - look at Panasonic.

That would be my preference too, but I can't find a plasma that's smaller than 40" and would fit on my edit desk!

I know Panasonic makes a 21in. studio monitor. its LCD, but its within your budget. You may wanna look into a factory refurb plasma. I've seen them around online every once in awhile. I know both transfers houses I worked out of used the Panasonic for color correction and the 21in. the control room for monitor playback.
