Timecode filter in Squeeze 6

I was really excited when I discovered the timecode burn-in filter in Squeeze. But then I found it doesn't read the original TC of the sequence and always starts at 00.00. Which makes it kind of useless. I mean, when does a cut start at 00.00?

Has anyone discovered a workaround for this, or has it been fixed in later releases?
