	sennheiser 416t connected to48v. by Alex Reshuan on Mar 21, 2009 at 5:19:57 am The mic was connected for a few seconds to a hvx200 camera supplying 48v at the camera input. Now if you connect the 416 to its 12v power supply you can barely catch some sound. Is it ruin? or shall I send it to Sennheiser for their flat $50 repair service ? 	Re: sennheiser 416t connected to48v. by Ty Ford on Mar 21, 2009 at 1:22:06 pm Hello Alex and welcome to the Cow Audio Forum. The MKH 416P is not engineered to run on only 12V Phantom. It requires 48V Phantom. If you try it at 12V you starve the mic, the level will be low and the sound will be distorted, if you get any sound at all. That's normal. You have not harmed the mic. You can not power a T power mic with Phantom Power. If your mixer has T power, you must use that. I know of no cameras that offer T power, only Phantom Power. PSC makes an inline barrel adapter that converts Phantom Power to T Power if you don't have access to a mixer with T Power. I have mis-powered mics in the past with no damage. Maybe yours was about to fail anyway. If this is the case, the $50 trip to Sennheiser would be a good thing.
