Mercury Playback Engine - Card Support?

I am considering purchasing an Alienware m17x with the Nvidia GTX 660M 2GB card, But I can't seem to find a straight answer to whether or not it will give me the Mercury playback hardware acceleration.

The GTX660M is not present on Adobes "Official supported cards" page, However I do know it states CUDA support is needed for the Mercury playback engine. The GTX 660M is a CUDA card.

I am literally pulling my hair out trying to decide what to buy. I simply can't afford the Quadro or Tesla cards.

Any amount of advice would be very helpful, It will be CS6 I run.

Not sure if this will help but I have a new imac with AMD 6970 which is not supported but the earlier 6770 is, I used the txt hack buy control clicking the app open/open contents then selecting opencl (there is a CUDA txt) and after allowing permissions, I was able to add my card restart and Mercury was applied to my project.

If you have an updated driver and this card is newer, I'm pretty sure you'll be ok. I'm on mac so I'm just offering my opinion and not fact.

I recently added the GTX 570 to my new HP Z820 system. So far it is performing quite well.

Yes Tom,

Nearly got the unit you have but, the service in Australia is poor.

I run a Dell Precision M6600 & T5500 and the Nvidia Quadro 3000M 's driver packed it in and the Mercury Engine would only work on software, has now been fixed.
I am mainly in travel so your video was a breath of fresh air.

I am very happy with the GTX670 I put in my new system. It is a Kepler like the 660 you are looking at. You will have to add it to the list of supported cards (in a text file), and every time there is an update, you will have to add it to the text file again, but it is worth it. It will work fine.

It's not difficult, but a matter of choosing a card which has the horsepower to run the Mercury Playback Engine, as well as the new 3D feature in AE CS6, which requires a bit of horsepower as well.
