Advice is required from users of laptops for editing of Premiere Pro 5.5.2 and or 6 and Export to Blu-ray and HDV/mpeg-2 1440 x 1080 to tape in the field ?

I use the LaCie Rugged drives in the field and they work great. Get the version that has USB 3 or esata so you have enough drive speed. I use the 1 TB size and love them. Not sure how to handle the BR problem though. I use a LaCie external burner but it requires external power so will not work as well unless you have a hotel or similar to plug into mains. Also, make sure you have as much RAM as you can get and a Nividia Cuda card is a must as well if you can.

I use an Asus G53SW in the field, with CS5.5, and a BMD Intensity Shuttle USB 3.0. Works great.
