Mark ArensQuestion on supported graphic cards for CS6
by on Apr 28, 2012 at 5:07:59 pm

I have a Windows 7, 64 bit, Alienware Aurora, 16GB Mem, Intel I7 desktop.

I have a Single ATI Radeon HD 5970, 2GB GDDR5 Graphics Card.

I love this card, ATI finally has updated drivers, no issues.

I have read about CS6 supporting certain cards, does this mean Adobe only tested the cards in their list. I am asking because this card I have is new, and want it to use with the new CS6 GPU usage.

Am I on a "standbye and wait and see" mode?

Supported configuration for OpenCL GPU acceleration in Premiere Pro CS6 is exactly and only this:

"GPU processing (Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration) extended to use OpenCL on some systems: AMD Radeon HD 6750M and AMD Radeon HD 6770M graphics card with 1GB VRAM in MacBook Pro computers running Mac OSX v10.7"

That's from this page about what's new in Premiere Pro CS6.

Thanks, was hoping my card would be able to use the CS6 Open CL power.

Just ordered more 4GB Dell memory cards, going from 16GB to 24GB.

This should solve the open CL problem I have :)
