Need to import DVCPRO HD from tape
by Paul Del Vecchio on Jun 24, 2009 at 4:27:26 pm

I'm used to working with file-based workflows but I booked a job where I need to import from DVCPRO HD tapes. The format is 720p 24fps from the Panasonic HDX900. Can anyone make a suggestion as to what hardware I'd need? I'd like it to capture 23.976 not as 24p over 60i so that there is no interlacing in the files (wont be good for color correction).

Right now I'm looking into the Blackmagic Decklink HD Extreme. Anyone else have any other options? I looked at the Matrox Axio LE but it's really expensive.

Any suggestions would help greatly.

Thanks!

We import DVCPRO HD 720p 60fps all the time from our AJ-HD1400 deck into our AJA Xena LH card with no issues.

Cool. I looked into the Xena LHi and it looks like that's what I'll be getting. =)

That card is awesome and pretty cheap.

Where'd you get yours?
