Ever since I have begun using CS3 I have bumped up against one problem or another. The current one is I have added an external harddrive for storage, WD My Book 2TB.
I have moved all my projects and video files there for storage. After launching a project and attempting to watch the clip in either the Source or Monitor window and in the Preview window either.

I moved one file back to the local harddrive and created a new project and used that avi file for a clip.

But still the clip does not play in any of the windows w/in the project windows.

I am running this on a Dell XPS desktop dual core processor w/ 4 Gigs of ram.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Doug

Does it play and you don't see it? Is there audio? Or..does it just do nothing?

What sort of media is it? What is the nature of the project? Is it MPEG or uncopmressed or?? (etc, etc.)

Also what are the project settings?

Hi Tim,
I have solved it w/ the help of Adobe. I had uninstalled the program and reinstalled it w/out success and then re-initiated my drive w/ the directory defaults... basically the way it was shipped and reinstalled the Master Collection. This still did not do the job. So Adobe Tech support to the rescue. We spent about 20 minutes and then the support rep asked me about audio.
I do not have any audio attached presently, this is a new machine and I am just capturing all my footage so I did not have any need to get speakers yet, or so I thought.

The rep had me check the Audio settings under audio hardware, ASIO settings. It was set to modem. Now I don't know how this setting was changed, but it was and that was the issue.

Hope this helps someone in the future.

Doug
