import single frame from image sequence
by Dustin Brown on Aug 21, 2008 at 6:34:07 pm

In Premiere Pro 2 (Windows), I'm trying to import a single frame from an image sequence. I'm doing this because I want to hold certain frames for a few seconds. But every time I try to import that one frame, Premiere imports the entire sequence again. I've unchecked "Numbered Stills" on the Import dialogue, but that doesn't help.

The only work around I've found is to copy and paste that frame into a different directory so it's isolated from the rest of the sequence. That's kind of ghetto though.

If you export a frame on the right postion in the timeline, it will be in the project window. You can put it then in the timeline and adjust the duration. Don't forget to put flicker removal on the still frame.

Good luck Phocas Kroon

I cannot reproduce this problem in PPro 2.0.

Can you reproduce the problem in a new project?

Cheers

Eddie

To make a freeze by exporting the last frame of a clip and put this frame behind the clip was possible in all Premiere versions.

Please explain what happens if you try it.

The freeze technique works fine. I was just trying to use an asset I already had (a frame from my existing sequence) rather than create a new asset.

What can I say, I'm a minimalist.

Hi Eddie. Yes I can. This is a consistent problem in every Premiere project I work on.

That really surpises me. What file format are the images?

I use PNG sequences.

If I have time on Monday, maybe I can do Camtasia capture of it and post it online.

I really like the Frame Hold technique. I don't even have to add any additional items to my bin. Super clean.
