Premiere and Vista - Current experiences.
by David Cornford on May 19, 2008 at 9:22:10 am

Building a new machine for Premiere CS3. What's the lastest wisdom on operating system: Vista 32 vs Vista 64 vs XP?

I've had conflicting advice, including to set up a dual boot with XP for Premiere, and Vista for everythig else, and maybe Premiere "later". Seems messy to me.

Guidance based on current experience welcome

Dave

I have yet to encounter real issues can can be attributed to Vista, although if you need to relink footage, the sgow only matching names doesn't seem to work, which can be a pain for image folders.

With 32 bits, you will likely limit your max memory to 3 Gigs, so Vista may not be a good idea, given it uses nearly twice as much memory as XP.
