Using Panasonic P2 footage in Adobe Premiere CS3?
by Juan Martinez on May 11, 2008 at 9:29:13 pm

I'm using P2 footage in Adobe Premiere CS3. Everything imports and works just fine.

The thing is, my footage only has one channel of usable audio (as was expected) but Premiere automatically pulls in all four channels when I drag my video file into the timeline.

Is there any way to get Premiere to only pull in just ONE of the four channels when dragging to the timeline? The time it takes to unlink, delete 3 channels of audio, and relink for EVERY clip is fairly inconvenient.

Thanks for anyone who has been able to work through this!!

There may be a way through audio mapping, although I never bothered trying. I usually hold alt while selecting the tracks I don't need and hit delete. Not much of a hassle.

If you select a P2 footage item in your bin, go to "Clip," "Audio Options," then "Channel Mappings" you can select which audio tracks are linked with each clip.

Good luck.
