EX1 footage transfer into CS3 Problems
by keith beam on May 8, 2008 at 9:15:34 pm

Here we are again with more Premier/Sony EX1 problems. I can get EX 1 footage into CS3 by using the clip browser software than exporting it as a MXF file. The problem is we were filming and ran out of card space so we transferred footage to an external hard drive. The drives show the clips but the clips can not be moved into the Sony browser nor imported directly into the Matrox Axio system. I just updated Adobe with the newest 3.2 updates and have loaded the second version of Sony Clip Browser.
Nothing is allowing the conversion straight from the external hard drives. Does anyone have any answers to this problem?

Thanks

Beamer out.

I've got the same problem. My cameraman imported our footage from his Sony XDCAM EX1 camera (SxS cards onto his Final Cut system. He then transferred the QuickTime .mov files onto my PC. I have Premiere Pro 3.2, but I can't open the QuickTime files.

Is there a way for me to edit the footage on Adobe Premiere Pro?

I hope you can help.

You can thank Apple for creating ProRes. It's only a Mac codec. You can only use files made with the codec (default for HDV and HD in FCP) if you have FCP on a Mac with v.6 and the ProRes codec, with PProCS3 on that same Mac.

(You will never get it to work or even play on QT on a PC)

I have tried to restore the footage from my hard drives to the camera cards, then shoot one clip....that did not work for me but that is what Sony is saying to do. Adobe tells me that in a month or less they will have a downloaded driver that can handle the Mpeg 4. I am no help but stand next to you with my fingers crossed.
