please help! premiere and xdcam pmw EX1 (mp4)

Hello
I have a problem already posted it in the xdcam forum but up till now no response.
While transferring my files via usb I lost some vital data from my clips... So I have my MP4 files and XML files only. I work on final cut and the only way to use those clips is via sony transfer software. With my vital data missing the program won't recognize it. Now my question was if I can import the mp4 files directly into premiere without wrapping in another format and without the need of that vital data. I would find it rather absurd that I can still watch the mp4 via VLC player and clip browser but can't use it!!

hey mike I work with final cut,
I don't know premiere pro, that's why I would like to ask if it is possible to import the xdcam mp4 format directly into premiere. If so then I 'll have to edit on premiere pro

Hey Yves,
I use Premiere Pro CS3 to edit my EX-1 stuff ... and it works using just the mp4 files. You have to update to 3.02 to do this, and the performance is great. The other option is to purchase a plug-in from MainConcept or other mpeg utility, if you're editing PP2, and on my computer (dual core 3 Ghz Dell), that didn't work so well.

thanks a lot man, first I'm gonna try ffmpegx as told on the xdcam forum. And if the result is good then I'm saved. But now that I know that premiere can work with the mp4 file alone, I know I have a back up.

Thanks top this post, I was able to save my project!!! Used MainConcept plug in as recommended by Scott. It cost me though by it saved my ass!
Adobe should have that built-in though.
