Weirdest Project Audio Problem Ever

Ok, so I had been working on a Premiere Pro project last summer, and had an audio issue where I was not getting any sound when clips were on the timeline.
I had been using two external drives, but had moved all the media I was using over to the second drive. Once the first drive was disconnected, the problem started. I would only get audio when the first and second drive were connected to the computer, and turned on. Despite the fact that no media was on the first drive.
Cut to: This week. I'm working on a project with media captured on a third drive. Keep in mind, during this time period neither of the two previous drives have been hook up to my computer at any time (not during capturing or creation of the project). Suddenly, NO AUDIO on the timeline.
After double checking everything, I happen to just try hooking up the First external drive, and magically the audio works!?
There is nothing on the first drive. I have done projects inbetween these two audio issues, and have not had the problem.
My only thought is to perhaps uninstall adobe premiere pro, and start all over, but are tey any other suggestions?

I suspect that if you check your project settings, the conformed audio is targeted to those drives that need to be hooked up to work. When they are offline, PPro isn't making replacement files because the project says they need to be on this (or these) drive(s) that aren't there.
If you search the drives in question, I'll bet you will find conformed audio files for these projects.
Try setting your projects so that conformed audio goes to the same folder as your projects...life will get easier I suspect.
