Hey there. I was kind of thrown in the position of being a DIT on a shoot. We are using Arri Alexis.
Can someone give me the basic outline of how the workflow goes and which programs I need? Thanks.
on set as we speak btw.. :l

P.s. My computer only has USB 2.0.

Will we need a computer with firewire 800? Dont think we´ll shoot a whole lot though.

Cheers.

Hi,

Your best bet is to have a 17" Macbook Pro on set to take in the SxS cards. Use a program like Pomfort Silver Stack or Al3xa Data Manager to copy the data securely to Firewire 800 drives. Make multiple backups of the original files.

From there on you need to send files for editorial or dailies. FCP 7 with the Nick Shaw (Antler Post) plugin or Resolve/Lite can help you make dailies and offline with the time code/clip name burnt in.

Always budget for LTO-4/5 backup.

Hope that helps.
