Essentially, the iPad is an EXTRAORDINARY individual use tool. It's size and form is optimized for the single viewer.
It also works fine when a couple of people view it depending on their relationship and willingness to move into physical proximity. But when you start adding viewers, you encounter problems as the screen to viewer distance gets larger and larger.
Essentially, increasing screen to viewer distance diminishes it's impact rapidly. So using it, for example, as the video source in a conference table will be difficult for those who might be 7 or 10 or 15 feet away.
So like all wonderful tools, it's got strengths and weaknesses just like everything else.
