I just want to say how glad i am to see a Blender forum here!

In my own 3D quest, I started to learn Maya. After three years i switched to Blender. Beeing a director I mostly use 3D software to make previz films, and blender is so good! Smarter UI then Maya and stable (it does not chrash, never ever!) Besides, alot of functions is better integrated. You can render a sequence and preview it directly in the program, there is a post-process part with a timeline and a node-based compositioning system... well the list goes on.

And with the coming 2.5 release, Blender is sure to take the video world with storm! It´s a must-have for a new-school production company.

Basically I just wanted to say thanks.

Hey Anders.
I'm glad that you found us and thank you for the nice words.
Yes, Blender has come up a long way and it's a great tool for previz work.
This forum aims to be the resource for the integration of Blender in the Motion Pictures fields, so we need people like you, directors, compositors, VFX artist, etc.
Please spread the words and help us build a community of visual artists around Blender.

Welcome aboard!

I want to second the thanks. I've been tinkering with Blender for a long time, but never used it for any production work. Now that it seems to have "arrived", I've committed to using it for 3D. And the level of training available is astounding.

Funny, I wanted to be a little more active on this forum, since I mainly use it when an answer to a Google search pops it up, and my first post is about Blender, not AE or Premiere. :)

Hey Mitch, glad you found us. You're pointing out something that is quite true. There are multiple YouTube channels dedicated to Blender and the cumulative material is very, very complete. And most of it is free. Another great opportunity for aspiring moviemakers and 3D artist to unleash their creativity. BTW, be sure to check my blog too, here at the COW, it's very Blender-centric.

Best.

Good start. Looking forward to more blog posts.

BTW, my first foray into Blender as a production tool is to try out the UV projection to take some SLR stills and create establishing shots. Should be fun. :)

I would like to third the thanks! The potential for Blender is huge and well deserves a place at Creative COW. Paolo, your hard work and dedication is much appreciated... can't wait to try your Blender to AE extension!
