3d phone with layers

Hi there. I want to make a model of a cell phone as I need to put together an animation of removing the sim card from the phone. I want to make a 3d model that has multiple layers so that I can remove the back of the phone and sim card in after effects. Is this possible in blender.

I have been searching but havent really seen anything to this effect.

I have also tried creating a 3d image in after effects using photographs which didn't really work to well.

If anyone has a better solution I would greatly appreciate it, without having to use flash. Oh and I want the phone to be vector graphics if possible.
