Really ?
I mean, seriously ? have you tried the Euphonix ?
I mean, touch and feel, and the wonderful, so reliable EuCon protocol ?
After playing with the Elements, you would not want to go back...
BDM should look into get a branded version of them for their mid-range panel.
They would sell like warm, freshly baked bread.

Hi Sascha

I'm in the market for a good panel to use with Resolve, I know the proper Resolve panel is the perfect choice, but I can't afford the price, I can't wait to see what NAB brings

I just sold my 2 year old tangent wave and was considering the Avid artist color instead, didn't like the feel of the knobs and levels controls, specially the rubber knobs for lift, gamma, gain that kept rubbing the surface when I used them, I kept adjusting their height but decided to move on.

I've spoken to a few Euphonix Mc Color users and they seem happy with the panel, I didn't know there were unreliability issues with the Eucon protocol, some simply map direct from within avid

I originally had my hopes up for the Element, but not sure if this will ever be supported, could you elaborate on the feel of the element, the feel and response of the trackballs, the transport controller, what software did you test it with.

I agree that BMD should come up with they own mid range panel, I can see them selling way more mid range panels rather than the $30,000, though the big facilities would still go for the bigger panel, they already do, I just don't see new big facilities popping up any more, instead disappearing, so moving forward a smaller more affordable panel is the way to go

The point I was trying to make is that the Avid Color and Control together can be a very powerful system with the right mapping and the ability to customize your own, and both units together cost under $4000

I would be even happy, if I just could remap and custom assign buttons on MC Color.
As far as MC Color and EU Con not being reliable, personally, I find EU Con EXTREMELY reliable as well as MC Color having much, much better ergonomics, it is being supported by many more manufacturers (Avid, FilmLight, Autodesk, Assimilate, Nucoda, Red etc) and easily able to use MC Color with any computer, that is connected to the network. I use MC Color with my two computers- PC and Mac with no issues whatsoever. Just try to do that with Wave.
But, hey, if you're into clunky, plastic, able to only use with single computer, split controls POS, Wave is for you...

Hey Paul,

What's the source of that image? Are those new modules altogether or would be newly supported in Resolve? I'm hoping we see competing mid-range panels from Blackmagic, Avid and Tangent at NAB (all supported of course). BM's efforts have created a lot of new DaVinci users out there, but there hasn't been a full price range of panels to buy...

Hi all, I encourage you to keep an eye out for our next 8.2 beta for Mac and Windows OS that will include support for all four models in the Tangent Element range: Tk, Mf, Kb and Bt. I can also say we have no plans for a cheaper panel at NAB as the low cost panel market is well covered by third parties such as Tangent Devices, JLCooper, and Avid.
Peter

Thanks for the info Peter! Would you be able to say if the 8.2 Beta will support only one of each of those element panels, or could we build bigger?

I agree that the low cost market has plenty of options, I personally was hoping to see a larger option in the 10K-20K range (from any company) but the Element will definitely be an appealing option, even better if it can handle multiple elements...

Cheers,

This is the most exciting news for me since I first saw the panels last year. Kudos for bringing on support for these panels!

Hello Peter,

great news about the Tangent Element!

But can you please say something about the cp200 panels?
I remember a post some time ago you mentioned that they may be supported by Resolve...

Thanks

I'm going to say "not bloody likely" so that Peter can contradict me, vis a vis "Element".
