Re: V4HD in standalone mode by Dave Roberts on Nov 4, 2009 at 2:00:08 pm
Trevor,
The simple answer is: yes the V4HD can do this job.
The V4HD has 32 channels of audio input and 32 channels of audio output.
8 channels analog
8 channels AES/EBU
8 channels optical
8 channels embedded
There is a mixer inside the V4HD that allows you to route and mix any combination of audio inputs to audio outputs. When the V4HD is connected to a computer, you can program the mix from the front panel or from a software console. When the V4HD is not connected to a computer, you program the mix from the front panel. In stand-alone mode, the V4HD has internal memory for 16 mix setups.
So yes, you can take in 8 channels of embedded SDI audio input and mix that to two channels of embedded SDI output. You can do a separate stereo submix to analog outs for monitoring if you like. The SD-SDI picture is passed from input to all outputs.
Picture and audio stay exactly in sync from input to output.
