Hello
I just received a Motu V4HD interface, plugged on my OSX 6.4 and I am trying to plug a mic (SHURE SM7B (dynamic) on the analogic input 1. The mic and the XLR link are ok, but I have no signal. I tried with another microphone but without any success.
Do I need a preamp?

Antoine,

Yes, you need a mic pre amp. The analog inputs on the V4HD are line level inputs.

As I see that you are THE Motu specialist, you will certainly be able to help me... again...

I would like to know if it's possible to plug a deck (like a Sony HDV player/recorder) in firewire
and, by the way, make a capture in FCP.
Because I tried, but it doesn't work. So I thought that was maybe me who made a bad setting...

Thx

The V4HD does not capture or playback to an external device via Firewire. The Firewire connection on the V4HD is for connection to the computer.

If you daisy chain an external device through the V4HD to the computer, the computer should see that daisy-chained device directly. In other words, Final Cut Should be able to capture and play to the external deck directly, via the Firewire connection.

Ok.
But if I plug my device on the V4HD in component, I suppose that I'll be able to capture it in Prores directly with FCP?

Yes, the V4HD will capture component input to ProRes inside FCP.

[Dave Roberts] "Yes, the V4HD will capture component input to ProRes inside FCP."

so long as you have a fast enough computer! ( i.e. new one)

4 cores are apparently required fro PRORES capture as the transcoding is done by the computer.
The V4HD does not have any PRORES hardware acceleration. ( but does have for DVCPRO.)
But can edit, monitor and output PRORES on an earlier MBP, once captured.

Hello;

I have a new kind of problem but I know that is probably nothing (just me who forgot something)

I would like to have a video monitoring of my Final Cut pro sequence on a LCD screen by the V4HD HDMI plug.
I try to plug it but I have no pictures on the screen.
In FCP, I am on "all frames" mode for external video, and the "Audio / Video settings are like this:

I am sure that there is a mistake somewhere...
Is there a basic configuration to have a video monitoring from FCP by HDMI?

Thank you in advance

Your external monitor may not support 1080p 25 playback. Try setting the Video Output of Final Cut to 1080i 25.
