 | Ideas on how to link two distinctly different parts of the edit

Hi,
OK, i'm editing a piece at the moment that I would like to go from dramatic, tension music to a more inspiring melody. I have chosen both tracks and at the moment.
So...
Timeline is - clips no sound (apart from music) then speaker comes on and talks/shouts to audience. I cannot fade the sound on this bit (although that would of worked perfectly) as it was filmed in a night club and they wanted the music playing. If I keep the tension music cranked up you cannot hear the club music but you can the speaker. So then the next clip is an interview with the organisers. At this point I quickly fade down the tension music as I would with bringing in any interview and slowly fade the rest out while bringing in the inspiring music. It *kind of* works, but I am happy for thoughts on a better way :)
Thanks
Olly Lawer
