KiPro software update available
by gary adcock on Oct 22, 2009 at 10:22:02 am

Aja has posted a new version of the software for the KiPro at:

http://www.aja.com/ajashare/kipro/kipro_ver_1.0.1.17-1256164234.zip

Make sure you read the release notes for the features in this build, including the update procedure.

Was considering the KiPro for an upcoming job and looked over the training videos and the manual for the KiPro.

Here is a suggestion for next release:
Separate the Formatting menu from the menu where you type in Scene & Take numbers. Since the Scene and Take numbers will be the most accessed menu on a narrative shoot, I think it's good to have the Formatting kept far away from it. If nothing else than for my peace of mind.

Since I've only read the manual + watched the training videos, but have no real life production experience with the KiPro yet I could of course be mistaken about this.

[Wolf Austad] "Separate the Formatting menu from the menu where you type in Scene & Take numbers."

it is a separate menu item under MEDIA.

All functions relating to how you handle the media are in the same grouping.

I have not been able to errantly re-foramt a drive from the unit interface settings- nor could 3 other people that I had try, one of which was my mother who is in her 70's!

formatting the drive is a 3 step process.

You must tell the machine that you want to format.
You must activate a separate button to ARM the formatting process.
You then release and hold down that a button for 2 secs before formatting begins.

You immediately exit the process by pushing any one of the Transport buttons.
