Aliasing on hard edge masks
by Chris Brearley on Sep 23, 2009 at 8:59:32 am

Hi again,

I seem to be experiencing a bit of a problem with aliasing when using a hard edge on a garbage mask. I can blur the output or add an inner or outer edge and this will fix it but right now I'm doing a bit of motion graphics in Toxik and I need to be able to get clean, crisp edges. Are there any anti-aliasing settings like in Smoke that I am missing out on?

Thanks

Chris

Chris,

I’m not sure which anti-aliasing settings you are referring to in Smoke so if you can elaborate that might help. But you might try adding a edge tool after the mask and turn on shrink. This will obviously shrink the mask a little but it also generates a smoother edge.

Hey Chris,
The antialiasing settings you are thinking of are in the reaction tool, if you think of it as the action tool it will make sense coming from smoke,

Joel
