Toxik Lessons on Autodesk Area Website
by Phil Hoppes on Sep 9, 2009 at 1:09:14 pm

Ken,

Not sure if you would catch this comment here or on the Area site so I posted both places. I wanted to let you know that your rar files are corrupt. I have tried to unpack them both in Windows and on my Mac. The initial error is in 1h_renders_pt1.rar where CRC fails in Renders\BG Land.00017.png . The second file that is corrupt is in Renders\LandZDepth.00023. In reviewing this inside winrar, both of the above mentioned files have been split across the rar file boundaries, that is to say, part of BG_Land.00017png is in your pt1 rar and the rest is in your pt2 rar. The first half of LandZDepth.00023 is in pt2 rar with the rest in your pt3 rar. My Mac nor the version of WinRar that I have cannot handle this and I suspect that there are others with this same issue. If you could recompress these files so that you don't have files split across rar file boundaries it would help. I have uncompressed all of the other files but I am missing these two files.

Tnx, Phil

UPDATE: I found that the issue is realted to the fact that names of the downloaded rar files are different. When the files are downloaded they arrive with the names, 1h_renders_pt1.rar, px_renders_pt2.rar, k4_renders_pt3.rar. This is what is confusing winrar and stuffit as it causes each program to think that there are 3 separate rar files. If you change the names on the last to files to be 1h_renders_pt2.rar and 1h_renders_pt3.rar it should work fine. You might want to repost these files with the respective source rar file names so users downloading them do not have to rename them.
