Learning Nuke
by David Mathis on Aug 17, 2009 at 2:47:15 am

Now that Apple Shake is no more, I am interested in learning Nuke. I am new the compositing a need to learn some basics first. Any help is appreciated. I currently use an iMac with a duo 2.66 gig processor and 4 gig of memory running on 10.5.6 (Leopard). Thank you for this forum.

I am also interested in getting started on Nuke. Are there any good materials or tutorials out there?

Hi I would say start with the video tutorials on the Foundry's site. They are very helpful.

Hi David/Bradley,

Here are some nice free tutorial links.

http://www.vfxtalk.com/forum/nuke-tutorials-f123.html?f=123
http://www.thejuniorcompositor.com/category/nuke/

But I think the best way to learn Nuke (after some basics) is to watch the VFX breakdown provided by the Foundry website. Here is one which explains how the HUD was developed in Nuke, pretty awesome.

Hope this helps.
