my L-T-V is G-R-E-E-N
by Bryant Vander Weerd on Apr 1, 2009 at 2:47:25 am

I have created a looping OTS and a looping Fullscreen animation in After effects, and I exported both as MOV files. I didn't include alpha, because I was under the impression that once I converted it to an LTV file, I could just tell Chyron where I wanted it to key out.

So, I turn the MOVs into AVIs, and convert them to LTVs. I load them into my eFX panel under both the "video" and "key" areas. I set them to loop, etc etc etc, but when I set them to output and play... the whole screen turns green. I distinctly remember my animations being more creative than just a full green solid.

So, any idea what I did wrong? Maybe export them in AE with an alpha channel?

I don't know the answer to your green problem. But did you know there is a LTV converter for After Effects, so you can directly export to LTV from AE? That might help you...?

Regarding the green, have you double checked that you are using the same format - ie NTSC/HD/PAL etc all the way through your process? turned video In on and off in the hardware settings etc? Try posting a message on the Yahoo forum too, they have a lot of users, so someone there may have run ito the same scenario before.

Was not aware of the LTV converter for After Effects. Is it a stock feature or do I need to download it? And if so, where can I find the link to this plugin?

Thanks

It's not a stock feature, you will need to download it. There are two files you need to install. I had a quick look on the chyron site and I can't see it there. You can either contact your local friendly chyron representitive who can help you, or I could email it to you.

Well, my original problem is fixed, regarding the green LTV files. I don't know, maybe Chyron was just temperamental yesterday, because I retried today using the same steps, and I got it to work. Must have just been a minor detail.

I would really appreciate an email, considering I have never spoken with a Chyron rep before... this Chyron equipment isn't really mine, it belongs to the University I go to. I don't know if I would qualify for Chyron help or not, since I just use the equipment, I don't own it.

Email address is bryantvw@gmail.com. I appreciate it!

ok, I found it, download these two files:

ftp://ftp.chyron.com/pub/software/Lyric/CurrentRelease/Ltv_File_Utilities_b...

ftp://ftp.chyron.com/pub/software/Lyric/CurrentRelease/LockStep_AE_1.0-ALT....

unzip and run these 2 files, check that you install it in your correct version of After Effects - it will probably try to install in 6.5 (even if you don't have that version installed.

When you go to render your graphics, LTV will be a option in the dropdown settings.

Are there Apple friendly versions of these apps available, or is it Windows only?
