FCS install not working

So I have had FCS up & running on this machine not too long ago with great results. Now when going through the installation, it hangs at the 'running final cut server installer script section' (the last step i might add) and sits there for nearly 45 minutes. It finally does register that it was as successful install, but up launching the FCS system preference it errors and says it needs to repair permissions. I then try to start the server and get an error to reinstall. I have tried permissions fixes, resetting PRAM. Nothing seems to alleviate the situation.
Running Leopard server 10.5.7 on an 8 core macpro 4gb ram

Official response from apple
"Well it looks like you should have installed FCS prior to doing any OS updates, basically your trying to install old software over a newer OS"
bull@!# I dont even have these kinds of problems in Windows!!
So basically the only solution according to them is to reinstall Leopard Server for the 11th time.
Im about ready to throw this machine through a window.
