My final cut server suddenly stops the generation of the proxy clips. When I upload something it generates only a jpg thumbnail, but not the proxy clip. Has someone seen that?

The "Pro Applications Update 2008-02" is the problem.
This download updates Final Cut Pro to 6.0.4 and Compressor to 3.0.3 in a single combined update.
Compressor 3.0.3 unfortunately breaks the automatic Proxy generation functions of Final Cut server regardless of whether you have FCSvr 1.0 or 1.1 installed.
You will have to uninstall Compressor and then if you like update to no further than Compressor version 3.0.2. Even Compressor 3.0 will function normally with FCSvr 1.0 or 1.1.

I've been having the same problem with QT proxies not being created. I tried reinstalling Studio 2 on my Server machine to get Compressor 3.0 instead of 3.0.3 but that wasn't installed. When the installation window comes up Compressor is in grey and it says skip next to it. What should I do to fix this problem?

I was able to install Compressor 3.0 with Pacifist. I uploaded a clip to FCServer and it was still only creating a jpg proxy and not a QT proxy. Do I need to reinstall FCServer after reinstalling compressor? Are there any other fixes to this problem?

Yeah. We've had that issue as well as the random creation of edit proxies. I found that at least as a temporary fix you can analyze the clip and that should generate it. I wish I had an immediate answer for you. I'm still digging into the software but if I find anything I'll certainly pass it on.
