24p playback on timeline is wavy/distorted, help

playing back 24p anamorphic to my FCP 5 timeline...picture has little black wavy lines every few seconds, distorts the image...this happens in log and capture window as well...
My current audio/video settings:
sequence preset: dv ntsc 48 khz - 24
capture preset: dv ntsc 48 anamorphic(there is no 24 mode, though there is a 2:3:3:2 pulldown, should I be using this?)
device control: firewire ntsc
video playback: apple firewire ntsc 720x480
sequence settings:
aspect ratio: ntsc dv(3:2)
pixel aspect ratio: ntsc - ccir 601, anamorphic
field dominance: none
editing timebase:
quicktime video settings: dv/dvcpro-ntsc, quality: 100
any ideas of what I'm doing wrong? thx a million, Alex
