 | Passing Metadata from Production to Asset
by Marc Grant on Nov 22, 2011 at 10:55:02 am |
Does anyone know how I can do this? I'd like to pass the metadata field 'Producer' content from the production to an asset that is added (a movie) to the same production, so that the editor who uploads it doesn't have to fill in the same field twice.
Any ideas all?
Thanks
M

This can be done with some relatively advanced scripting of of the fcsvr_client command line tool, but there isn't a way to do it with just the standard automation components. I built a proof of concept of such a script once upon a time, but it wouldn't be a one-size-fits-all thing, it would need to be customized to accomplish what you are hoping to do.
Best,
Andy

Thanks for that. Would it be possible to take a look at your script?

If you'd like to email me you can do so via my COW profile. The scripts I have are actually a set that go a step further and give you checkboxes that correspond to fields you might want to push down to member assets selectively. It also lets you pull metadata from a production from within an asset.
Best,
Andy

Hey Andy,
I can't seem t find contact details on your COW profile. I'm perhaps being a bit thick...?

If you click the company link under my avatar you should get a page that displays my email address in a bot-proof format.
