Using Fill w/Paintbrush Tool
by Jake Huddleston on Oct 15, 2009 at 3:49:17 am

I am new to Illustrator, and I have set a color fill, but it only works when I use tools like the shape tool. How do I get a color to fill in the middle when I use the paintbrush tool and close it off? Thanks!

Paint Brushes are editable within the Brushes palette. If you want to edit the color, drag the brush onto the artboard, change the color, than drag that object back to the Brushes palette to create a new brush with the new colors.

Jake, after drawing your closed shape with the brush, use the Pick Tool, (black arrow) to select it. Then, click the Fill side of the Fill/Stroke proxy at the bottom of the tool panel to bring it to the front, making Fill active. Then choose a swatch or set a color in the color panel.
