CS3 AI Missing Document Window

Working in Leo 10.5.1 - CS3 AI 13.0.0 and yesterday the document window disappeared. Strange. So I trashed my Adobe Illustrator Prefs file (which lives users/library/preferences folder). Reinstalled AI and still the same thing. Application opens and when I go to create and open a document no window.

I have the feeling that I'm overlooking something really stupid...

Any thoughts out there in forum land???
