Here is the steps I was taking. I was supposed to have the CC done on a Quantel Pablo but that fell through so now it is being done in Color 1.5.1.
I transcoded all the footage with RedRushes to ProRes422(HQ). I edited the project in FCP 7.0.1 and exported an XML to Clipfinder 2.20-- (this is a 60 sec spot). I selected relink to R3D files then selected conform XML. I opened this new XML in Color and all the red footage is at the head of the shots. I see the slates. Obviously this is no good.
So I tried another tact. I exported an XML from FCP and imported that into color. All shots are correct but it is pointing to my ProRes footage. If I select a clip and say 'relink' it finds the R3D file but again, I'm back at the head of the shot and see a slate. Again this is no gooood.
Next I use the send to color option in FCP. I see all my shots correctly but they are still pointing to the ProRes footage. Choosing relink in color again brings the footage to the head of the shot and the slate.
How does one go about relinking to the R3D files using the ProRes work flow? I've searched this forum but can't find a definitive answer that will work. I'd like to see the correct in and out points applied to the R3D files so I can grade it properly in color without having to grade the ProRes footage.
Has anyone had success with this?
TIA,
Warren
